San Diego Beaches

The Children's Pool is a small beach partially protected by a seawall. The beach has become a popular viewing area for harbor seals.  Seals and occasionally seal lions venture out on the beach to rest year-round.  The beach is closed to public access during harbor seal pupping season, 12/15 to 5/15. 

Coronado Central Beach is a 1.5-mile long beach regarded as one of the nation’s best beaches by the likes of The Travel Channel and similar outlets. It runs along Ocean Boulevard with the Hotel Del Coronado at its southern end. The beach is flat with an unusually broad strip of sand between the boardwalk and ocean.  

La Jolla Shores Beach is a long, wide, and very popular beach in northern La Jolla. Compared to most of the La Jolla beaches which are tucked into gaps between rocky points, this one is a monster at over a mile in length. Kayakers put in at the south end of the beach and paddle out to see La Jolla and other water-accessible sites.  

Mission Beach attracts surfers, sunbathers and volleyball players. A paved path curls around Mission Bay, a popular spot for water sports. Belmont Park is a small amusement park with a wooden roller coaster built in 1925, and SeaWorld San Diego is one of the city's premier attractions.

Pacific Beach is popular with sunbathers and surfers. Trendy hotel bars and casual cafes line the boardwalk, and nearby Mission Boulevard and the surrounding streets are dotted with women’s clothing boutiques, yoga studios and casual drinking spots that draw a young, bar-hopping crowd 

Ocean Beach is unique with its vibrant, bohemian neighborhood.  Surfers and sunbathers fill the beach while Ocean Beach Pier is a popular local fishing spot.  Nearby Newport Avenue is lined with antiques shops, beachwear and surf boutiques, organic groceries, taquerias and brewpubs.
