 Airport shuttle vans and buses operated by off-airport companies are another convenient transportation option. Shuttle service is available at the Transportation Plazas across from Terminals 1 and 2. From Terminal 1, cross the skybridge and take the escalators or elevators to street level. From Terminal 2, use the pedestrian crosswalk outside the Baggage Claim Area to access the Transportation Plaza. Travelers can also book a shuttle in advance with Go Airport Shuttle for a hassle-free ride from the airport to their destination. 

San Diego Airport transportation, including rental pick-ups and drop-offs, for companies serving San Diego International Airport occur at the Consolidated Rental Car Center. Free dedicated shuttle buses run continually to  take customers between the airport terminals and the Rental Car Center. Travelers can explore a wide selection of rental cars through Expedia for a smooth and convenient start to their trip. 

Rental car companies at San Diego International Airport include Alamo Rent a Car, Avis Car Rental, and Budget Car Rental.  Rental car pickup is conveniently located at the airport’s Rental Car Center, with free shuttle service available from all terminals. 

 If you need a taxi from San Diego International Airport, simply follow the signs leading to the Transportation Plazas. A customer service representative will place you with the first available taxi, unless you specify a particular taxicab company. Alternatively, you can book a pre-arranged airport transfer in advance through services like Holiday Taxis for a guaranteed ride to your hotel or destination.

Lyft and Uber both offer Ride Share services at San Diego International Airport. Travelers can be dropped off curbside at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Pick up locations are as follows: Terminal 1:   Exit baggage claim via the escalators, walk across the Sky Bridge toward Ground Transportation and the parking lot, exit down the escalators toward the parking lot, and turn right to the Transportation Plaza. Use crosswalk to the third lane for pick-up area. See signage for assistance. Terminal 2:  Upon exiting baggage claim, use main crosswalk to Transportation Plaza. Ridesharing pick-up is located in the second lane on the right.

 San Diego city bus public transit is available to and from the airport and downtown on the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System Route 992. The bus stops at Terminals 1 and 2 and operates daily between 5:00 a.m. and 11:30 p.m., running every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on weekends and holidays.
